THE SEARCH FOR TALENT CONTINUES

The U.S.-PHILIPPINES EXPO, grand cultural – trade and consumer show is all set for August 12-13, 2006 at the Fairplex in Pomona. With the great community response, this event will surely be successful. Several components lined up for this two day event that the entire family can enjoy include the Singing Star Competition, the Ms. U.S.-PHILIPPINES EXPO Competition, Kids Corner, Salute to Our Troops, Great Achievers Awards, the Show of Shows, and of course the Exhibits. “The Filipino-American community has definitely showed us their support,” stated Russell Panopio, President of R-P.A.G.E., Inc., organizers of the U.S.-PHILIPPINES EXPO. This was very evident in their first elimination round for the Singing Star Competition, which is only the beginning of the U.S.-PHILIPPINES EXPO’s continued community support.

A jam-packed venue with supporters of this grand event took place on May 25th at Max’s of Manila Restaurant in Glendale. Family and friends all came to watch as their brother, sister,
daughter, or son participated in the 1st Singing Star Elimination Round. “The night went
extremely well,” exclaimed Ragsdale Panopio, Director of Public Relations. He further added that, “Everyone from supporters of the contestants, judges, to employees, at Max’s, had a wonderful time. It’s a reward in itself to see such an amazing turn out. It just goes to show that all of our hard work and dedication is paying off.” The first and second place winners were awarded to Liezel Valeriano and Nisa Sophia Sabrina Limhap, respectively.

Both contestants will move on to the final round at the U.S.-PHILIPPINES EXPO 2006 to compete to be the 2006 Singing Star. There is still a chance for interested individuals to partake in the search for the Singing Star. There are 5 elimination rounds left, one in which takes place right here in the Inland Empire area - Villa De Manila, located at 450 S. Main Street Unit A Corona, CA 92882 with an elimination round scheduled for June 3, 2006 at 7:00PM. The following are the rest of the scheduled elimination rounds, including locations, dates, and times, in which contestants can compete to become finalists at the U.S.-PHILIPPINES EXPO 2006 Singing Star Competition:

1) Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 7:00PM: Maynila Restaurant located at 22102 S. Main Street Carson, CA 90745
2) Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 7:00PM: Musikahan Sa Lutong Bahay located at 10326 Alondra Blvd. Bellflower, CA 90706
3) Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 7:00PM: Pinoy Bistro at 11305 183rd Street Cerritos, CA 90705
4) Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 7:00PM: Mynila at 18778 Armar Road Walnut, CA 91789.

From the Great Achievers Awards, Salute to Our Troops, the Kids Corner, to the Show of Shows, there will definitely be no problem delivering an exciting event. The Great Achievers Awards aims to recognize our kababayans whom have distinguished themselves in their chosen career field, and the Salute to Our Troops allows us to pay respect to those whom have served our country and given their lives to protect our freedom. Additionally, children and adults alike can take pleasure in the Kids Corner, where clowns, magicians, arts, crafts, and much more will surely put smiles on their faces. Entertainment, from cultural presentations, local based entertainers, all the way to celebrities coming from the Philippines will give attendees another aspect of the event to look forward to. Santos and Ryan Agoncillo are the headliners for the Show of Shows. Moreover, one can certainly welcome the Exhibits, which will have raffles, give-aways, and bargains on showcased products and services.

The Ms. U.S.-PHILIPPINES EXPO 2006 is yet another competition the community can participate in. Prospective candidates must be a Filipino or Filipino-American of good moral character, between 18-25 years of age, and must either be employed full time or part time, or be enrolled in high school or college. The Presentation of Candidates will be taking place at the Shilo Inns Suites Hotels in Pomona, on July 8th. During this presentation, candidates will have the opportunity to mingle with the Judges and the Press. This will enable the candidates to showcase why they should be Ms. U.S.-PHLIPPINES EXPO 2006. Ten contestants will compete to become Ms. U.S.-PHILIPPINES EXPO 2006. Along with this title comes a cash prize, and an array of exciting gifts and opportunities, so why wouldn’t you want to fill out an application today?
